Introduction to Jira

 

I have ZERO knowledge in JIRA and the first time I heard of it was when I got hired in my current company. I was like, OMG what is this?! What are these colored tags? What’s epic? Is a story, a story of your report, situation, what?? I’m 100% clueless and by just looking at it I know for sure I won’t be able to understand what’s Jira all about.

Given that I’m part of the Operations, I won’t be needing to use Jira that much. I guess, using Jira is just 1% of my tasks, that’s only when submitting bugs. Ohh thank goodness!

Considering, I am the Project Manager now, I have to study the in depth of Jira. I have to scrupulously observe its usage. So I spent hours of self study again. My Project Manager showed and discussed Jira during our one on one talk last week. But he only showed me how to create Sprint and where to look for Backlog.  And I don’t even know what Sprint is!

Here’s a good start to learn about Jira. With its overwhelming terms it is better to watch this video and try it yourself so you could understand it further. As you can see from the above photo, I have worked on the basics already and it’s fun! It’s like I’m just updating my google calendar! Lol!

I was scared using all these tools. But true enough that “Fear is always worse than reality.”
